Beijing China, Day 17 - Plein Air 5

We met with the museum team this morning to plan for the open house coming up Saturday. We are having people over from 2:30 to 4:30 for me and from 4:30 to 6:30 for Becca’s workshop. Her workshop will be filmed by the Australian embassy and used to advocate for the cultural exchange between China 🇨🇳 and Australia 🇦🇺 Pretty awesome that the government is so involved!

Cheese and crackers and sangria 🍷 is on the menu.

I am expected to give a short presentation of my practice in China and show some slides of my work all-together.

After sorting everything out for the open house I packed and headed out to the same park where I did my second Plein Air - Badachu. I already new the way so didn’t need to look at the bus map nor my GPS! When I got there it was burning hot and I managed to tan with a 50 SPF on :(

I walked around the Temples and tried lots of different food from the street merchants. 😱 Let's see the result...🤦‍♀️

I ended up buying a couple of bags of something. And a coconut, with a hole and a straw for drinking. It was my first time trying coconut water, Felt very refreshing in the heath.

The nut was so heavy I could barely carry it, while dragging my suitcase behind. I went to the same rocks I painted on, and set up my things up in the shade. Of course, after an hour it was no longer shady. Although, I had more room to move around this time, it got hotter and hotter. Ant it was already 4:30!

After my brain fried I packed up and headed to the bus. 🚌 And the same thing happen getting off! There was a guy standing in front of the door and rushed to get in immediately when the door opened! The conductor even sent me to the driver’s door which is less crowded. The guy started pushing me in. And he was pretty tall. However this time I was prepared. I picked my heavy suitcase and threw it against him. It hit him across the knees, I got out but my suitcase was still in. I pulled as hard as I could and it went across the guy’s feet and out. I win.

I got home sweating 😅 and covered with dirt from the park. I tried to paint some more but the studio was too hot. I took a cold shower before I pass out.

Becca came home and we headed to Meizhu for dinner. This place has not disappointed me yet. Great food and we can bring our own 🍹 The waitress is very friendly and always gets us a nice table, because of that time when she asked Becca to tell the American to be quiet. (Day 10)

Chinese love their gold fish! I see them in every park.

Anything look familiar?
